Pinus nigra : Austrian Pine (2-0, 06"-12") (Code: 1808)

A two needle pine native to western Europe.The needles are medium green and stiff, the cones are small and rounded. The bark is especially attractive on mature trees, dividing into large silvery brown plates with deep furrows. The seed from Bosnia is preferred for disease resistance. It has distinctive velvety white candles in the early spring. Widely used as a landscape plant and occasionally for a Christmas tree.
